1979  

Acquires 401 Park Avenue South the first of 16 office buildings to be acquired in New York City.

Opens New York office with Steve Meringoff to apply Master Ground Lease technology to office buildings in Manhattan.

1978  

Opens San Francisco office with brother Steve Shidler to invest in Bay Area commercial properties.

1977  

Jim Reynolds and Jay Shidler team up to acquire the Waikiki Marketplace, a retail center on Kuhio Avenue in Waikiki. Jim and Jay will subsequently form Reynolds + Shidler in Honolulu, which will become the predecessor to Pacific Office Properties Trust, Inc.

1976  

First Master Ground Lease technology used to acquire 1 North King Street in Honolulu.

1974  

Opens Seattle office and acquires the Olympic National Life Building.

1973  

Begins to invest in California and completes first corporate sale-leaseback with acquisition of Applied Magnetics Building in Santa Barbara.

1972  

First acquisition completed with Jim Reynolds coordinating Jay Shidler’s purchase of the Polynesian Plaza, a five-story hotel and commercial complex on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.

1971  

Jay Shidler forms The Shidler Group.

First Lieutenant Jay Shidler returns to Hawaii from military service in the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers and forms The Shidler Group.
